First of all, my thanks to the voters of the 7th Council District for offering me this chance to help improve City Hall. I am dedicated to proving how sound your judgment is.
My special thanks to the many volunteers who gave hundreds of hours to the grunt work of our campaign. You have really made it happen.
And to my husband, Mike, thanks for allowing me to pursue this opportunity for real public service.
It's been a long and tough campaign, particularly tough on my feet, working the neighborhoods.
But the real work is just beginning.
I have told Mayor Jerry Sanders I'm prepared to support his efforts in dealing with the unpleasant and difficult decisions on the budget. The welfare of our marvelous City depends on a functioning City Council.
However, I've also told him I will be a strong, determined defender of needed service for the 7th District, from libraries to recreation centers to public safety.
I am, by letter, asking each of the community groups in the 7th District, to give me a list of the top three priorities in their specific area, keeping in mind money is scarce across the board.
Again, my thanks to all who have supported this campaign. Let's now move ahead together.
I am planning to meet with Councilman Jim Madaffer to arrange a smooth transition so we don't miss a beat in representing the people of our 7th Council District.
Warmest Regards,
Marti
